Resource Officer Assignments
SROs serve three public elementary schools, one public middle school and two public high schools. They
are school certified police officers who serve as the liaison and primary officer between their assigned
schools and the police department.

Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E)
D.A.R.E. serves all three elementary schools. This Nationwide program teaches children techniques to help
them resist the temptations of drugs and violence. Please contact Sergeant Scott A. Tabel at 954-973-6712

Gang Resistance
Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.)
This program is designed for middle school aged students to teach how to resist the temptation of gangs,
drugs and violence. For more information, contact Officer Joe Barreto at Lyons Creek Middle School at

Bike Safety Program
Serving all elementary and preschools. Specially trained Bike Safety officers teach youth the importance
of following the bike safety rules. This is accomplished through live demonstrations, lectures, videos
and special youth safety awards.
Other Programs
Stranger Awareness, poison safety, child abuse awareness, Halloween safety, gun safety, 911 system and
youth and DUI law.
