Elections and Voting

For more information about registering to vote, contact the Broward
County Supervisor of Elections any weekday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., at 954-357-7050.
Voting Eligibility

You must be 17 or older to register. However,
you must be 18 or older on election day to vote. |

You must be an American citizen. |
| |
You must be a permanent resident of Broward County. There is no specific time
requirement to live in Broward County to be considered a permanent resident. |

You must not have been declared mentally incompetent. |
| |
You must not have been convicted of a felony and not had your civil rights
restored. |
Registering to Vote

Registering to vote is a right. It is available to all persons that meet eligibility
requirements. |

You may register on-line using the Voter
Registration Form provided by the State of Florida Division of Elections. |
| |
You may register to vote at the same time you are applying or renewing: |
| |
- A Florida Driver License
- A Broward County Public Library Card
- Benefits at State public assistance agencies
- Services and agencies that provide services to disabled persons.
- At Armed Forces Recruiting Offices. |
Deadline to Register to Vote

Voters must be registered at least 29 days before an election, to vote in
that election. |

To register by mail
Applications must be postmarked at least 29 days before an election, to
vote in that election. |

To register at registration sites
At certain locations applications will be kept and delivered to the Elections
Department. Applications must be turned in at the registration site at least
29 days before an election in order to meet the book closing deadline. |

To register at the Elections Department
Applications which are delivered to the Elections Department at least 29 days
in advance of the election satisfy the book closing deadline. |
