2003 Butterfly Festival
The 2003 Butterfly Festival was held Saturday, Feb. 15th at Sabal Pines Park.

Most kites took off immediately.

By 2:30 p.m. several dozen butterfly kites were aloft.

Their striking neon colors and streaming tails created a spectacular view.

By 3 p.m. there were more than 120 kites aloft and others still joining them.

The police bicycle officers patrolled on their electrically-assisted bikes throughout the day.

Mounted officers took the time to share their beautiful horses.

The butterfly spirit was everywhere, especially in this young girl.

The Main Stage featured musical group "The Stowaways" between 2 and 3 p.m.

As people arrived at the Festival, they were treated to fun, delightful music.

After the kite flying, many children sought out the face-painting clowns.

The lines quickly grew as more children walked around sporting hearts, unicorns, and butterflies.

This girl realized her dream of becoming a cat... for a few hours, anyway.
