2005 Homestead Exemption Sign Up

The City of Coconut Creek will be hosting Homestead Exemption sign-ups on five days
during the filing period. The Homestead Exemption can result in a savings of $650
or more per year on your property taxes.

Filling will take place in the conference room next to the City Commissioner's Office.

Traditional filing period:
January 1st to March 1st
What You Need to File
Proof of ownership
The Recorded Warranty Deed, Co-op Proprietary Lease, Tax Bill Receipt or TRIM
Notice if in your name(s).
Note: If your property is held in trust, you must provide the Property Appraisers
Office with a complete copy of the trust in order to qualify for the Homestead Exemption.
Proof of permanent Florida
residence dated prior to January 1st
1. Florida Voters Registration or Recorded Declaration of Domicile of all
applicants;
2. Florida Drivers License of all applicants;
3. Florida Car Registration of all applicants;
4. Social Security Number of all applicants;
5. Non-U.S Citizens must bring an I.N.S. Permanent Resident Card or Political
Asylum Documentation or PRUCOL Documentation and a Recorded Declaration of Domicile;
6. If married and using different last names, submit a copy of your marriage
license.
Note: All owners occupying the property must file in person on jointly held property,
other than husband or wife who may file for each other with the required documents
for both (copies or originals).
Additional required information
State law requires that you provide the following information for all owners
living on the premises and filing for Homestead Exemption:
1. Current employers of all applicants;
2. Address listed on your last I.R.S. income tax return of all applicants;
3. Date of each applicants permanent Florida residence and date of occupancy
for each applicant.
Additional Exemptions
Widow / Widower Exemption
Spouses death certificate, newspaper clipping or a memorial card that indicates
that you are the surviving spouse.
Disability Exemption /
Legally Blind Exemption
Letter attesting to your legal blindness or total and permanent disability from
the Veterans Administration, or a certificate from a Florida physician.
Senior Citizen Exemption
Filing period is January 1 through March 1 only. Applicant must be 65 years or
older as of January 1st. Your total household adjusted gross income, excluding renters
or boarders, must not exceed $22,096 plus any cost of living increases as indicated
by the Florida Department of Revenue. You must apply for this exemption on an annual
