Maintenance of the Drainage System
-

Maintenance of the drainage system is performed on a regular basis by the different entities in charge such as the City, COCOMAR Water Management District and South Florida Water Management District. The drainage system in the City Right of Way is inspected and maintained yearly by the City for proper operation.

The City of Coconut Creek is served by an interconnected drainage system mainly discharging from Sample Rd. north to Hillsboro Canal and Samples Rd. south to Canal C13. Both canal levels are controlled by South Florida Water Management District. There are “primary drainage system”, which include canals and main culverts discharging to the two major canals Hillsboro and C13 maintained by South Florida Water Management District. The “secondary drainage system” connects to the primary and consists of major pipes collecting from tertiary system, which are drainage systems in private communities. Tertiary systems have to be recertified every five years by the Broward County Environmental Protection Agency.
