When Is a Building Permit

building or structure in accordance to the Florida Building Code. Included, but not limited to the following:
 |
All new buildings (residential,
commercial, office, and industrial) |
 |
Additions to existing buildings. |
 |
Remodeling and renovations,
including walls or rooms in garages for any use, are to include structural,
electrical, plumbing, and mechanical permits and plans, if applicable. |
 |
Pools and enclosures (NOTE:
Above ground pools, when Homeowners' Association Regulations are met, require
zoning approval only. You must provide a survey to the Zoning Division indicating
location of pool). An electrical permit may be required if adding an outlet
for the above ground pool and/or spa. |
 |
Patio slabs/pavers, concrete
& wood. |
 |
All enclosures (screen,
window, walls, etc.). |
 |

have product approvals). Product approvals are reports from an approved testing
laboratory or professional engineer certifying that the product complies with
the specifications of the manufacturer and compliance with the requirements
of the Florida Building Code. |
 |
Hurricane protection (shutters,
panels, impact resistant glass, roll ups, etc. requires product approval or
engineered sealed plans). |
 |
Signs (temporary and permanent,
monument, etc.) (NOTE: All signs over 12 square feet shall have plans bearing
the seal of a registered Florida engineer.) |
 |
Water heater replacements
(require plumbing application only). |
 |
Air Conditioner replacements
require a mechanical application indicating model number, serial number, and
SEER/EER#. New air conditioner installations, in addition to the above, require
an electrical permit. |
 |
Burglar alarm systems (electrical
permit required). |
NOTE: All commercial properties require a yearly back flow recertification permit.
A plumbing permit is required from a licensed plumbing contractor accompanied by a
Certificate of Inspection performed by a certified backflow technician. The cost for
