With an established "Sister-State" relationship between Florida and the Western Cape Province, the advent of Sister-City and Sister-Port relationships have now combined with a variety of partnerships established by the Chambers of Commerce and state economic development organizations to place Florida companies in an unprecedented and favorable position to take advantage of the immediate trade and investment opportunities in South Africa. The recent visit to South Africa by President Bush, the presence of an EFI Office there, and the continuing aggressive US trade policies, including the African Growth and Opportunity Act and the Millennium Challenge Account, promise a favorable business climate for Florida companies.
